Tennessee Gleaning Network

Society of St. Andrew’s Tennessee Regional Office was established in 2010 to coordinate the state’s gleaning network.  Since that time, SoSA has rescued and shared an average of one million pounds of food per year.

Create Volunteer Profile Tennessee Farmers Row by Row Project

SoSA’s Tennessee Gleaning Network coordinates volunteers across the state who rescue food at farms, farmers markets, and even processing facilities.  Volunteers harvest food straight from farm fields when growers are done for the season, collect food that hasn’t sold, or package and distribute unmarketable but good produce (“ugly” food).

GIVE SERVE LEARN LEAD

Growers:  Do you have produce to share?  Invite SoSA to your fields after harvest, and we’ll gather what’s been left behind.  More information here: Tennessee Farmers

Organizations:  Does your school, office, congregation, scout troop, or social club need a service project? Working with SoSA is a great way to build teams, share fellowship, have fun, and serve the community. Share food with neighbors or learn about the impacts of food waste.  Contact the TN Program Coordinator, Cecelie Eiler, to put together an event.

Congregations:  Sharing food and feeding hungry neighbors is a pillar of most faith communities. SoSA has Christian faith-based study guides, worship resources, and VBS programs.  Find Spiritual Resources here.

Individuals:  There are so many opportunities to give, serve, learn, and lead with SoSA! Look here for volunteer opportunities. Go here to make a financial donation. Check out all these educational resources. We’re looking for part-time staff in a few regions of the state. Be in touch with the Tennessee office to get involved.
