“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who give you their food give you their heart.” – Cesar Chavez

Dawn and I (Ann), have meet so many wonderful people over the past year who have helped to make SoSAs first year in Indiana a huge success. We want to invite each of you to sit with us at our virtual table, share a meal and tell us stories about your favorite recipes and who or what inspires you to cook, volunteer and/or serve those in need.

We have been thinking a lot about how we can continue to provide opportunities to those that have come together to glean and share food. We have created this cooking club with the goal of continuing to connect and build friendships and community with volunteer gleaners and those actively working to #endhunger in Indiana.

Please join us on this journey at:

Do you know a farmer? Please share this information with them.
Despite the federal government shutdown, many Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices will reopen for three days only—Jan 17, Jan 18, and Jan 22—to help farmers take care of USDA-related business, including tax forms and loan applications. Please share this information with farmers you know!
Waste Not Wednesday is here! Todays talk is about Stems and Ribs! Its a perfect conversation for our winter greens - use them, dont waste them! The ribs and stems of our chard, collards and kale have a flavor all their own.
*Finely chop them and add to your stew or soup - just plan on cooking them a little longer than your leaves
*Puree them into pesto
*Saute them as a side dish
*Pickle them
*Enjoy raw as a snack - chard stems have a similar flavor to celery! #zerowaste #endhunger #wastenotwednesday #sosain
