Joshua Hearne will become Executive Director of the Society of St. Andrew on September 21, 2026. A relational, faith-fluent nonprofit leader, Joshua brings experience in philanthropy, fundraising, housing, community engagement, organizational strategy, and partnership-building.

Joshua currently serves as Program Director and Senior Program Officer at Danville Regional Foundation, a $310 million-plus private foundation. He oversees a $14 million-plus grantmaking portfolio, contributes to stewardship of $1.3 million-plus in annual program and initiative budgets, and advises the CEO and Board on community development, nonprofit capacity, organizational strategy, and community engagement. He also designed and leads a resident-led Community Councils initiative engaging more than 500 community members in decision-making.

From 2009 to 2022, Joshua founded and served as Executive Director of Grace and Main Fellowship, a faith-based, housing-centered nonprofit and intentional community in Danville. He held responsibility for strategy, fundraising, operations, staff and volunteer leadership, and Board partnership while serving alongside people experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, hunger, and discrimination.

Joshua earned a Doctor of Ministry from Mercer University, a Master of Divinity and Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University, and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College. His leadership is grounded in dignity, trust, shared ownership, and the belief that durable change grows from the strengths already present in communities.

I am honored to join the Society of St. Andrew, an organization that brings people together faithfully to nourish their neighbors and build stronger communities for everyone. Without a doubt, SoSA’s greatest strength is the people: the network of staff, volunteers, growers, churches, donors, feeding agencies, and community partners who set a table where everyone might find a meal and community
