Society of St. Andrew and the Disciples of Christ

SoSA is a Week of Compassion & Disciples Volunteer Partner with the Disciples of Christ

Society of St. Andrew and the Disciples are partners – in giving volunteers an opportunity to support food security and nutrition in communities across the United States.

We engage more than 40,000 volunteers each year – in gleaning fields to gather fresh fruits and vegetables to distribute through food pantries and food banks across the country. Last year, we distributed more than 33 million pounds of fresh food to hungry American families.

The Society of St. Andrew partners with people of all faiths, and of many organizations, that we might all serve together by feeding the hungry out of the abundance that we are provided.

Volunteers from the General Assembly gathered early and worked hard – distributing 42,000 pounds of potatoes into trucks from 20 area food pantries, the Salvation Army, and the food bank. This provided more than 120-thousand servings of fresh food to hungry families across the state of Ohio.
