While Still Far Off – Lenten Devotions
Daily Devotions and Giving Program, February 10 – March 24
Devotional Booklet: “While Still Far Off”
In 2016, commit to a daily time of study, reflection, prayer, and giving during the season of Lent, the 40 days (plus seven Sundays) leading up to Easter, using devotional materials prepared by Society of St. Andrew.
Join with hundreds of congregations and thousands of individuals and families across the country and around the globe. Deepen your faith as you give generously to provide healthy food for our hungry brothers and sisters through the work of Society of St. Andrew during Lent, February 10 – March 24.
Traditionally, Lent is a season of penitence, a time of asking God’s forgiveness for our sins, and seeking a new way of life in Christ, day by day, as we approach the death of Jesus and look forward to his resurrection.
Our 2016 title is While Still Far Off, recalling the story of the Prodigal Son. In the devotional booklet, you will find daily meditations and prayers that explore the theme of God’s unmerited grace, reaching out to us in love even when we are not ready to receive it, written by people of deep and abiding faith: pastors and laypersons from many Christian traditions.
Devotional booklets and coin banks are free, and may be ordered in quantity. You may also download a copy of the devotional booklet for your e-reader or sign up to receive each day’s devotion by email.
Pre-order a Lenten Preview Packet for your congregation today. We will begin shipping these in December 2015. Place your order using the form on this page, or call 800-333-4597.
Also available, the Good Friday Fast: “I Thirst”
Join Society of St. Andrew staff and volunteers in fasting on Good Friday. This special time of prayer and fasting uses our physical hunger as a symbol of our spiritual hungers. It also serves as a vivid reminder of our many brothers and sisters who live with real, physical hunger every day. This year’s Good Friday Fast considers Jesus’ words from the cross: “I thirst.”
Download or order our Good Friday Fast booklet for instructions and readings, reflections, and prayers for the mealtimes through which you are fasting.
