Strawberry Fields . . . in Season

At the grocery store yesterday, I heard a very frustrated woman approach an employee and say, “Don’t you have any strawberries?” Her cart already held plump red peppers and robotic tomatoes. This was the first week of February in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’m hoping for my first juicy strawberry in April, and will probably wait until June or July for tomatoes and peppers.
